Hey, Calvary Fremont –
Have you heard the rumble? Have you seen the storm clouds? Have you felt the gusting winds? There is a Tsunami gathering strength, size, and scope barreling toward America that seeks to Wake the Woke. No, it won’t Wake all the Woke, but it will signal that there are more who are Awake than there are Awoke. And this isn’t necessarily a Christian Tsunami. It is fueled by the prayers of the Church, also by the common sense of the Masses, and the data of the Academy.
This Tsunami is pushing back against the transgender mutilation of our children. It is pushing against insane laws that would remove children from their parents if the parents don’t affirm the re-gendering of their children. It is pushing back against biological men competing in women’s sports.
The term “Woke” is used to describe a state of awareness and consciousness about the issues of oppression and discrimination that affect various groups of people, such as racial minorities, women, LGBTQ+ people, and others.
Yet not everyone agrees with the Woke agenda or its methods. Some people view it as a form of extremism, intolerance, censorship, indoctrination, or virtue signaling that threatens their values, beliefs, traditions, freedoms, or interests. Some of these people have expressed their opposition or dissatisfaction with the Woke agenda in various ways, such as:
• Filing lawsuits or legislation to challenge or restrict the policies or practices of the Woke agenda, such as teaching critical race theory in schools, allowing transgender athletes to compete in sports, or banning books that are deemed offensive or harmful.
• Protesting or boycotting the products or services of companies or organizations that endorse or promote the woke agenda, such as Coca-Cola, Delta Airlines, Nike, or Target.
• Creating or supporting alternative media platforms that offer different perspectives on the issues of the Woke agenda, such as Fox News, Newsmax, Parler, or Rumble.
• Voting for political candidates or parties that oppose or criticize the Woke agenda.
The pushback against the Woke agenda is not limited to the United States. It is also happening in other countries around the world, such as Britain, France, Germany, India, Brazil, and others. Some of the reasons for this global pushback include:
• The perception that the Woke agenda is a form of cultural imperialism or neo-colonialism that imposes Western values and norms on other cultures and societies that have different histories and traditions.
• The concern that the Woke agenda is a threat to national sovereignty or security that undermines the interests and identities of nation-states and their citizens.
• The fear that the Woke agenda is a source of social division or conflict that erodes the cohesion and harmony of diverse communities and groups.
The pushback against the Woke agenda is likely to continue and intensify in the future as the issues of diversity, inclusion, and social justice become more prominent and contentious in the public sphere. (Some of this was drawn from Bing AI.)
All this is positive – yet it falls short of the Biblical vision. The Biblical vision is not to Awake the Awoke, but to Awaken the Dead. The Apostle Paul says in Ephesians 5:14, “Awake, sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” The ultimate problem isn’t Cultural Wokeness, but Spiritual Death. Let’s not get so caught up in the Culture Wars that we forget the Eternal War being waged for the eternal destiny of souls. Let’s not merely pushback against Cultural Wokeness, let’s pushback against Spiritual Death. Christ and Christ alone is the Key to winning the Eternal War. Christ and Christ alone is the Champion against Spiritual Death. The Gospel of Christ and Christ alone is to be the Mission, Mandate, and Message of the Church. Let’s not merely strive to Wake the Woke, let’s pray and seek to Wake the Dead.
