Hey, Calvary Fremont –
I have not come to praise former President Trump – nor to bury him. I just want to know what’s up. Maybe you do, too. Whether it’s coming from Christians or non-Christians, the Left or the Right, from Straight people or Otherwise, people are condemning Trump up one side and down the other. One website says that if you voted for Trump, you’ve lost all moral authority and are not really a Christian. YIKES! OK, over-the-top, and I don’t agree with it – but I get it.
What I don’t get is why those same people don’t turn their moral outrage on President Biden. It’s like they are only applying the mythical One-Edged Sword. Jesus exposed the myth of the One-Edged Sword in Matthew 7:1-2 (NLT). “DO NOT JUDGE OTHERS, AND YOU WILL NOT BE JUDGED. FOR YOU WILL BE TREATED AS YOU TREAT OTHERS. THE STANDARD YOU USE IN JUDGING IS THE STANDARD BY WHICH YOU WILL BE JUDGED.”
Jesus is saying that all judgment is a Two-Edged Sword. Think of a boomerang that is razor-sharp on all its edges. The One-Edged Sword is a mythical creature – much like the Unicorn. According to The Law of the Two-Edged Sword, what cuts Trump should cut Biden, too. Biden is doing all he can to make it legal for women so inclined to kill their babies and for sexual perversion to be normalized and shoved down the throats of all Americans. Biden couldn’t care less what God says about the sanctity of life in the womb nor does he care about the sanctity of parental authority over their children. And he is supposed to be morally superior to Trump? I don’t get it. The Two-Edged Sword bloodies everyone.
If a so-called mathematician doesn’t know that 2+2 = 4, how can I trust him or her with more complicated equations? If a politician can’t affirm that the baby in the womb is alive and is human and therefore worthy of State protection – he or she fails basic moral reasoning; they’ve flunked out of moral Kindergarten. How on earth can their moral judgment be trusted in other deliberations? I would not trust a mathematician who thinks 2+2 =5 and America should not elect someone who thinks that life in the womb is disposable.
Trump’s administration was full of lies and deceit and narcissistic self-preoccupation.
Biden’s administration is full steam ahead on killing babies and normalizing sexual perversion.
By what metric is one’s character and judgment worse than the other’s? How is Trump’s character more curdled, callous, and crude than Biden’s? I don’t get it. Some have argued that Biblical morality and truth mean nothing to Trump. OK – I agree. Apply The Law of the Two-Edged Sword – do they mean anything to Biden? Absolutely not! I’ve seen the handwriting on the wall – MENE MENE TEKEL UPHARSIN. Measured by the Scripture, both men have been weighed on the scales and found deficient. May the kingdom be taken from them both.
What America needs are candidates of character with sound Biblical thinking. But if the past is any precursor of the future, this will not happen anytime soon. I think that the national discussion should shift from the moral pollution of the candidates, and which one stinks the worst, to the policies and platforms advocated by the various candidates. If that happens, people will really need to start thinking about policies and positions and stop flinging mud at personalities. Anybody can fling mud, not everyone can think. Instead of only measuring their character by the Scriptures, measure their policies and positions by the Scriptures, too.
This blog is not meant to be crude, just blunt, and plain. I am a pastor and not a prophet. Prophets were not crude, but they were blunt and plain. Maybe all of us should take a page out of The Prophet’s Rule Book and apply The Law of the Two-Edged Sword. The Sword of the Prophet cuts Potentates, Princes, Priests, and the People – and Politicians (and Pastors). There is a great way not to get cut by this Sword – walk with God!
Be blessed and stay healthy and follow Jesus – Pastor Tim
